Porter Rockwell: Gunman and Saint — A Short Film and a Bigger Vision
Orrin Porter Rockwell lived a life that was nearly made for cinema—lawman, gunslinger, bodyguard, and man of deep faith. And now, a group of independent filmmakers is working to bring that story to the screen in a powerful way.
🎞️ Watch the Short Film
In 2022, a short film titled Porter Rockwell: Gunman and Saint was released on YouTube. Written by Robert Hill and directed by Alberto Nunes, the film dramatizes one gripping moment from Rockwell’s life—his fateful confrontation with Lot Huntington. It’s gritty, cinematic, and filled with moral tension—just like Rockwell himself.
🎬 The Bigger Picture
The short film was always intended as a proof of concept. According to the producer Jake Wykes (known online as Latter-Day Film Guy), the ultimate goal is to produce a feature-length film covering the full scope of Porter Rockwell’s life.
“We really wanted to make a western about a B.A. character, and Porter immediately came to mind,” he explained. “But we really want to tell most, if not all, of his story. Surprisingly not a lot of members know who he is or what he did.”
The script for the feature film is already written. What’s missing is funding and production support. The project is currently on hold while the team works to generate interest from investors.
