Porter’s Spring

Description:

From a history of Brigham City:

About the time the first settlers located on Box Elder Creek, Orrin Porter Rockwell took up so-called Porter Springs on Three Mile Creek, which still bears his name, but Porter Rockwell, daring as he was, did not locate on his claim, in consequence, it is thought, of the forbidding presence of the Indians. His brother, Merritt Rockwell, took up a large tract of land at Box Elder, but in 1853 sold out one hundred and fifteen acres to Simeon Dunn and went to California.
